A little courage for Valentine

There is someone you would like to talk to. You have probably rehearsed the message in your head. But sending it? That is another matter.

For Valentine, Imperio Cosmetics gave people a reason to be a little brave. Through Lasgidi and TAG Roll-On, the team created campaigns around love, personality and making a connection. I developed the websites and connected the data and interaction flows that brought those ideas to life.

Lasgidi: shoot your shot

Lasgidi’s Find Your Crush campaign invited people to send a Valentine message to someone they liked, with a chance to enjoy a dinner date together.

My part was turning the campaign brief and supplied creative into a working microsite. I built the journey for choosing a social platform, entering the relevant details, writing a love note, previewing it and submitting it to the campaign team.

I implemented the form logic, message handling and consent steps that made that invitation work from the first input to the submitted entry.

TAG: who’s your perfect TAG?

TAG Roll-On approached the same season through personality and compatibility. Participants answered seven questions about their preferences, from music and weekend plans to their love language, with answers connected to TAG’s product variants.

I developed the quiz and matching experience, including the waiting flow, email notifications and downloadable results people could share. It gave the campaign an experience people could take part in, beyond seeing an advert.

What I built behind the experience

My role covered the frontend implementation and the systems connected to it. I translated the campaign rules into form validation, database records, scoring, match states and notification actions.

Lasgidi: a message the team could work with

I built the multi-step submission journey and connected the collected details, social handles, love note and consent information to the campaign’s Google Sheets workflow. Participants could compose and preview their message; the team received structured entries to use for campaign follow-up.

That meant thinking through the information needed at each step, validating the inputs and carrying the message and participant details through to submission.

TAG: profiles, answers and matching

I integrated the WordPress experience with Supabase to store participant profiles, uploaded photos, quiz answers and matching status. I wrote the logic that mapped answers to TAG product variants and compared participants’ answers for compatibility.

The matching flow checked the campaign’s gender and location rules, excluded people already marked as matched and let participants review a candidate before accepting or asking for another option. On confirmation, I updated both participant records and moved the interface to the paired result.

The waiting flow, email and sharing

I also built the path for people without an available match: keeping their waiting status, recording notification requests and connecting the waitlist and match-confirmation actions to the ZeptoMail email flow.

For the final result, I generated a branded image from the participant and match details. I connected it to the device’s sharing capability, with a downloadable image as the fallback.

Those connected parts turned the campaign creative into an experience people could actually complete, and gave the team a way to manage the responses coming through.

A campaign people took part in

The campaign brought together the microsite, influencer collaborations, the marketing team’s work delivering messages and dinner experiences for couples. My development work gave that activity a working digital journey and a connected flow of campaign entries.

Lasgidi’s Find Your Crush went on to receive 2nd Runner Up in Campaign of the Year at the ADVAN African Awards for Marketing Excellence.

That success belongs to the wider team: the idea, the creative work, the marketing and the people who participated. I owned the website implementation and the connected data, matching and notification flows, turning the supplied creative and campaign rules into working experiences.

And that is what I like about this kind of work. You write the code, connect the systems and work through the details. Then people use what you built to do something as human as telling someone, “I like you.”

It was a lovely campaign to be part of.
